PERFORMANCES

One of the most important aspects of the band program at Strayer is live musical performance. We use performance as a way to assess our progress on the skills we learn throughout the school year and ultimately to bring joy to our lives and the lives of the people in the community.

ALL PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY.

In the case of a significant conflict, please contact Mrs Urquhart as soon as possible. Examples of serious conflicts include illness severe enough to keep the student home from school; significant family events like weddings, funerals, confirmations, graduations; and others as determined by Mrs Urquhart and the Strayer Administration.
PERFORMANCE ATTIRE: Performance black (all black). Performers' attire should reflect the formal nature of a concert event. Examples of concert-appropriate clothing: plain black long dress (knees or lower), plain black button-down shirt, tie or bowtie optional (black), black dress pants, black long skirt (knees or lower), black belt, black dress shoes, black socks.
Combo students should wear all black with the choir accessories. Combo students also in Mesa di Voce will wear the MDV uniform. Jazz Band members should wear the jazz uniform at the Early Spring Band Showcase and the Strayer Jazz Fest.
Jeans, sneakers, sweatpants/shirt, t-shirt are NOT appropriate concert attire. No clothing should have writing, patterns, or color of any kind. Students not following the concert dress code will not be permitted on stage to perform.
For the Wind Symphony's special events (Concert Band Fest and Dorney), there will be separate, more informal uniformed attire. Info will go to those specific members.
